TRAINING FOR TEACHERS, 17-18 DECEMBER, 2016 IN SOFIA PDF Print E-mail
ShareWithin the teachers training programme of Global Schools project the training officer Ms. Bilyana Jitarova delivered the introductory course on Global Education basics, which aims to support teachers’ confidence and understanding of global issues, so that they can integrate GCE into their everyday teaching practice. On December 17-18 th twenty selected teachers from 1st to 4th grade from the biggest Bulgarian 18 Secondary School “William Gladstone” took part in this first training session, bound also with the participation in the planned teachers exchange program with our partner from Latvia. The participants were introduced to the project context, chronogram of actions and goals by the visiting coordinator officer from Trentino, Italy, Ms. Francesca Vanoni and by the project manager for Bulgaria, Ms. Zaritsa Dinkova.

ShareOn December 16th Ms. Francesca Vanoni, the project coordinator, together with the Bulgarian project manager Ms. Zaritsa Dinkova wеre invited by Mr. Vencislav Mitsov, member of the Permanent Commission for Education, Culture, Science and Cultural Diversity to introduce the concept of Global Education to the local councilors from Group 5. The information meeting was attended by the Vice Chairman of Sofia City Council, Mr. Ivan Velkov and Mr. Svetoslav Vitkov, a member of the Permanent Commission for EU Programs and International Cooperation, and the Permanent Commission for Children, Youth and Sport of the Sofia City Council. They analyzed the possibilities for Group 5 to participate in the popularization of the Global Education. The local councilors showed their interest in the good practices and experience of their colleagues from the province of Trento in Italy.

ShareAt the international conference on Green Economy between Growth and Sustainability, hosted on 28 November in Sofia by Zelenika Foundation and Friedrich Ebert Stiftung, Office Bulgaria, Ms. Zaritsa Dinkova, project manager of Global Schools for Bulgaria, and Ms. Velichka Stoicheva, Dean of 18 Secondary School “William Gladstone” highlighted the role of the school for equipping children with the necessary competences to be citizens of today’s global world. The main focus was put on the need for the development of modern alternative forms of education together with comfortable, ergonomic open contemporary learning environment, and adequate and flexible internal organization

Started in 2015, Global Schools is a European project realised in 10 EU countries by 17 partners, led by Autonomous Province of Trento (PAT). It is co-­funded by the DEAR Programme of the European Commission. The three-­year-­long commitment aims at embedding Global Citizenship Education as a cross-cutting theme, and approach, to all existing subjects of primary school programmes in the partner countries.
